Quantum Light-Matter Interactions in Solids: towards integrated quantum photonics

7-8, September 2017 at IoP, London, UK

Quantum photonics, exploiting the quantum properties of photons, has caused much excitement in recent years. This is due to its potential to revolutionise science and day-to-day life alike through enabling the implementation of faster algorithms, secure transmission of information, vast increase in data storage and execution of more accurate measurements. At present, many attempts are being made around the globe to build quantum-optical devices for these purposes. However, insufficient understanding of light-matter interactions is hampering these efforts. For optical quantum information processing to advance beyond demonstration experiments, the development of on-chip capabilities will be essential. Solid-state qubit architectures have emerged as a most promising implementation of quantum photonic circuits, taking advantage of the state-of-the-art semiconductor technologies.

The workshop aims to create synergies between UK scientists and the worldwide scientific community working on this cutting-edge research topic. For more information, please visit the website: http://qlmi2017.iopconfs.org/home
